Nexomon have super smooth animations that bring them to life in. I loved the ridiculously detailed 2D artwork and animations throughout the game. The models for the NeXomon just jump out at you and are very cute. The aesthetics of the game are incredible. The nest thing by far is the bright anime styled world you will travel in. Effectively making the battles a case of rock, paper, scissors. Is that almost we need no skill to beat most foes, just the opposing element. There could have been a few tweaks to make it feel better.Īlso, with this being a port from a mobile game, the battle system has one flaw that makes it very dull. That said, I found it pretty easy to get lost. The strength of enemy Nexomon scales with the level of your party, so you don't have to worry too much about exploring anywhere you want. God, damn bloody menu, still had the mobile style layout and was clunky and a nightmare to use. While the game certainly pushes you in the direction of the story, you can wander off anywhere. While porting from mobile to Switch, there was a problem that needed some more attention but was glossed over. This is more than likely because of NeXomon starting life as a mobile game. There is no deviation, no innovation, just straight up copy paste from the early days. I have to be honest here, the battle system is slightly dull, it is just the same as we have played a million times before. The battle system is just as you could imagine, whittle the opponent’s monsters HP to zero, or if it is a wild monster, try to catch it. How do we defend ourself, by letting our NeXomon’s do the work. How does one catch them, with cubes of course, nothing like the other game out there.Īs you travel the towns and face off against gym leaders, people in the streets, and monsters in grass will attack you. Collect The MonstersĪs you might have guessed, NeXomon is a monster collecting game, and it is all about collecting every monster you will see, even if you do not use it. The game itself is fun, great for being from a small studio. Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2021. NeXomon wears its influence on its sleeves. Great game and fun alternative to Pokemon. Yes, this is basically a Pokemon clone and there is no other way to say it. Where is slightly differs is the darker, more mature tone of some of the story points, and of course some hilarious skits that happen. Overall Nexomon on Switch is much better served in the sequel Nexomon:Extinction, than in this version. It follows what the classic Pokemon games did. And getting rid of the less than nice, best NeXomon trainer. Along with taking on guy leaders to become the best. You play as a kid that goes out to catch furry creatures to make them battle.
